Author Brian Tracy has written the book Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways To Stop Procrastinating And Get More Done In Less Time.
One of the techniques he elaborates on in this book is to start practicing the habit of tackling your BIGGEST and most important task(s) first thing in your day.
This task or ‘frog’ is the one that YOU are most likely to procrastinate on.
It’s also the task that can have the greatest positive impact on your life and results (at the moment).
In 2013, I had bought and read this book following a solopreneur’s suggestion.
Had I applied its principles to my life after reading it? No.
In 2020, I was advised by a highly successful spiritual entrepreneur to start my day with the most daunting task that was on my To-Do List.
She suggested that I do the task that I was deeply fearing doing, but that I knew would move me forward in my life and in my business.
And so… I did.
I committed myself to do the one task (i.e. frog) that had been daunting me for months: to create a short Facebook Live video.
And, so, the next day, I did not allow myself to do anything else before completing my task, i.e. eating that frog.
My utter focus + determination moved me to build up the courage to face my frog.
Ta-da! I filmed my first Facebook Live video.
Was I nervous? Yes.
Was I scared? Yes.
Was I motivated? Yes.
Was it perfect? No.
Was I ready to eat that frog? Yes + No.
Was I determined? YES.
Consequently? The way I felt afterwards was phenomenal!
I seriously energetically felt like I had a BIG breakthrough having executed my ‘frog‘ task.
Finding myself dazzling with energy and a boost of courage + confidence, I felt more motivated than ever before to pursue my next BIGGEST aspiration.
The secret lies in EATING THAT FROG! first thing in your day.
And to NOT allow yourself to do anything else, keeping your energy + focus on one single thing: your frog.
This principle applies to any sphere of your life (whether personal or professional).
